From the Editor
Welcome to the 15th issue of your favorite productivity magazine. This one marks the beginning of the new era.
Until now the magazine was distributed as a PDF and an iPad app. And it was released “every now and then”… meaning when I had some time to get around to it once every 2-4 months. This had to change. I got too much great feedback on the magazine, too many kudos and emails from avid readers to go on like that.
PDF becomes mobile — our reading habits have changed
Now, with the smartphone, tablet and mobile-first era, we stop downloading heavy PDFs and instead — we read on our mobile devices. That’s why we’ve completely migrated to a mobile app. Our talented developer and designer duo (Radek P. & Radek K.) created a new mobile application that makes reading Productive! Magazine on the iPhone, iPad and (soon) Android a breeze. And as the magazine is free, you can also conveniently read it on the Productive! Magazine web site.
One other thing. Unlike other newsstand magazines, each issue of the Productive! Magazine occupies around 5MB of data, so even if you’re on a mobile 3G/LTE connection, you can safely download the new issue and read it right away. Compare that to the 500MB size of every issue of Wired Magazine.
Productivity boost every month — with regular staff!
Productive! Magazine will remain free and will continue to be sponsored by my productivity app: Nozbe. It gets even better. Nozbe has invested more money in the magazine and has hired a full-time executive editor: Magda. The plan is to involve more people in the future to make sure we can give you a regular, monthly dose of productivity-boosting articles.
This issue is special in many more ways…
This issue is also special to me because I’m interviewing Mårten Mickos, the ex-CEO of MySQL AB, the biggest teleworking company in the world — and as all (almost 20) of the members of my telecommuting Nozbe team know, this guy is my guru.
As always, we’ve got great articles from our regular contributors and have included the first chapter of my new book, which I co-wrote with Augusto Pinaud: “#iPadOnly. The first real post-PC book. How to use only your iPad to work, play and everything in between”.
So not only have our reading habits changed, but also our machines. Yes, I wrote all this on my iPad.
Thanks for supporting the magazine, make sure to check out our past issues and share the articles from the application with your friends, colleagues and followers. The magazine is free, the advice is free… and hopefully it will make you more productive this fall. Thank you!
